Fire Station 7’s design is primarily a roof surface project that intends to cover, enclose, and imply a variety of spaces with a hierarchy system that celebrates the apparatus bay.

The elevations show pitches of different heights and lengths; the most dramatic pitch is above the apparatus bay, the main space. There is an interesting ceiling condition on the first floor that mimics the roof so people can experience the angles coming into the space throughout the building.

The long perspective section shows how the apparatus bay and the surrounding programs are visually connected but physically separated through the implementation of glass. This project contains all the details of a real building, including two HVAC systems because the air from the apparatus bay (toxic from the fire trucks) cannot mix with the other spaces.
