The site of this project is Old Billingsgate in London which is a historical building with an iconic facade facing the Thames River. Crystal Garden reimagines the underutilized side of the building by adding a community amphitheater space, and connecting the street to the river walkway through new pathways. The two object types, the arch ‘doors’ (pink) and the decorative roof pieces (yellow), define the circulation patterns within the project. There are 3 wall conditions; glass, brick and greenery (following London’s biodiversity laws). The walls create small garden spaces while building a multi-layered facade.

View it in Augmented Reality

In this video, you can watch me walk around with an iPad, viewing the design in AR being projected on a physical model of the original building. There are also some behind the scenes of how I set this up!

If you are in London next to the physical model, you can open the Adobe Aero app, scan the QR code, then scan the image anchor to align the AR. The physical model was a collaboration between multiple people, and our model can be used by future students.
